Polar FT40M Mens Heart Rate Monitor

The Polar FT40M measures the average and maximum heart rate. In Polar software or during strength training, heart rate can be displayed as a graphical trend, visually indicating the measurement of the work your heart does throughout exercise. You can also monitor your calorie expenditure thanks to the Polar OwnCal and take a fitness test that measures the aerobic fitness at rest in just five minutes. The test uses the OwnIndex which is equivalent to the maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), to tell about the fitness level.

You can also define your target zones for a workout session based on heart rate to help define the right exercise intensity. When you are out of the preset zones, the training computer will give a visual and audible alarm.

The EnergyPointer is an easy-to-use feature that allows you to achieve the optimum balance between improving fitness and burning fat. It visually indicates the centre point between these two training effects, so when you are below that point, you are improving fat burning, and above that point, you are improving your aerobic fitness.

The Polar OwnCode (5kHz) coded transmission automatically locks in a code to transmit your heart rate to the training computer. The training computer picks up your heart rate from your transmitter only. Coding prevents disturbance from other training computers.
