What's the distance from the back of the bicycle seat to the back of the machine and the height of the bicycle seat at its lowest setting?

The distance from the back of the bicycle seat to the back of the machine is: 170 mm and height of the bicycle is: 825 mm at the lowest setting.

When using as a cycle do the 'fixed handlebars' adjust down and towards the user to be in a horizontal rather than vertical position?

The handlebars do not adjust to a horizontal position, however the seat does move forward so you can move closer to the handles when using as a cycle.

Does seat have to be lowered each time cross trainer is used?

The seat does have to be lowered, when using the item as a cross trainer, which can be easily done each time.

it says it;s a 2 in 1 croos trainer and bike. I can see it has a seat like a bike but are there pedals?

You can stand using the cross trainer and footplate's or sit down, with the handles stationary and cycle using the same footplate's.

What is the footprint of this machine please (width and length), and how do you measure stride length please?

Full Dimensions: Length=120cm (47.2”), Width=62cm (24.4”), Height=152cm (59.8”). The stride length is 30.5cm (12").

Assembled within an hour. Very robust and good quality. Quiet so can watch TV while using! Good number of programmes although set up instructions a bit limited. Happy with price based on quality.

bought 3 weeks ago, so far no problem.

So, this was my first cross trainer, though I did have an ancient excercise bike which was not fun to use! This by comparison is really great and perfect for a 60 something year old who's never done regular excercise. It took less than an hour to put together and though the instructions recommended two people, it wasn't difficult to do on my own. The instructions are very clear, and a very solid and well-built piece of kit. As with anything new, it took a while to get used to it, particularly how to use the programmes (others have mentioned this too in that the instructions aren't particularly good here), but after about a week I began to really explore its possibilities. The great thing is that there are so many variations so you don't need to get bored doing the same routine each day - important to keep motivation up. All in all, after much research, this was definitely a wise choice.

I was split between the bike and the cross trainer so went for the 2 in 1, luckily I'm really happy with my choice. I have the machine in my spare room and I have found myself using it literally on a daily basis which is great news for my overall health. So far I have lost nearly 10 kgs in weight over the last 3 months all from just exercising a bit more. The machine itself is great because you are able to switch up things. I like to do 10 minutes on the trainer then 5 minutes on the bike then back to the trainer for an additional 10 minutes. I'd recommend this to others who would like both machines but perhaps the budget cannot accommodate both.

Good value for money but for me this machine isn't as good as others that I have used in gyms. Being an experienced cyclist and having run many half marathons before I just don't find the resistance levels enough for a satisfying workout. I would recommend this to beginners though who are new to fitness as it is very good value for money.

Best of both worlds with this 2in1 - Although I must say I do find the motion of the cross trainer a lot more natural. Saves space by only having to own one machine and also I find it makes your workouts a bit more interesting.
