England Elite Team member Tom Richards has signed a sponsorship deal with online sports superstore Sweatband.com. From today Tom will play in an exclusive Sweatband.com branded Asics kit at all major events and public appearances.
The deal will also enhance Tom’s profile in the sport as Sweatband.com is now committed to building his presence and communicating his personality through a blend of marketing, PR and social media activity.
Maz Darvish, CEO of Sweatband.com says, “We’re excited to be joining forces with Tom at a crucial stage in his career following a heroic comeback from serious injury. His most recent results are indicative of a return to his previous form, which saw him ranked in the top 12 worldwide. Because of this we see Tom as a personality who can inspire not just devotees of squash but all those involved in sport who have their own setbacks to overcome.”
Tom adds, “I’m looking forward to the UK National Championships in Manchester, my first tournament in my Sweatband.com kit, fresh from the Swedish Open. As well as the personal boost Sweatband.com’s support is giving me I’m planning to make the most of our agreement to help revive wider interest in the game, to encourage greater numbers to watch the pros in action and also inspire more people to play during a crucial period for the sport as a whole”
The deal, which comes into effect today is initially set for 24 months.
