What is your background in tennis?

Played Professionally reaching 3rd round of singles on 4 occasions and 1/4 finals of doubles at Wimbledon, Former British No 1, Competed at the Barcelona Olympic games in 1992 and represented Great Britain in the Davis Cup. After playing professionally became World Champion in the Over 35 age group. Currently work for the LTA as a National Coach. Also involved in Commentating on key events for Eurosport, ATP and WTA tours

What do you find most rewarding about being a tennis coach?

Seeing players improving and having fun, knowing that you have been a part of their tennis journey.

What are the main benefits from playing tennis?

Great for fitness, makes you challenge yourself and socially a great way to meet people.

How important do you see sport activity in everyday life?

Very important as not only for fitness it also is great for mental well being.

How can people get into sports such as tennis?

Find out where your local club is, this can be found on the LTA website then simply go along to the club and join in with lessons or social play.

What are you 3 tips for someone new getting into tennis?

Have fun, seek a coach to teach you the basics and meet others to hit with.

What do you see for the future of tennis?

Certainly Technology and data have changed the game, their is more info out there now for all players to improve and this will only continue. At the top of game the use of Stats has also changed the way players think and will continue to improve in the future.
