The Rivo P cross trainer from Kettler is suitable for most users under 6' 2" in height. The depth of programmes and features ensures that it can be used both by those starting out on their fitness journey as well as those with a high level of fitness looking for a machine to continue to challenge them with varied workouts.
Th console features a large blue back lit LCD display that displays all of the essential performance metrics such as time, distance, calories used and speed. A key feature of this cross is that 4 different users may store their profiles (age, gender, weight and personal training default values).
For those eager to just jump on and do a bit of exercise, there is a guest mode as well as manual control that simply enables the resistance to be controlled electronically via the the console. For variety, the Kettler Rivo P cross trainer has 12 pre-set programmes for which time, distance, calorie burn or pulse rate targets may be set.
The most effective means of training is heart rate control and with the built-in wireless receiver, we'd recommend the use of the optional chest belt for greatest accuracy. In this mode, users may select one of the three default target heart rates (55%, 75%, 90% of maximum heart rate) or enter a custom target level. The actual target beats per minute are automatically calculated based on the user profile information. The heart rate control programme electronically adjusts the resistance every 15 seconds in order to keep the user within their target heart range zone.
There is a useful fitness test programme that enables provides a fitness rating between one and six after completion of the preset exercise route. Additionally, there is a recovery test function that arrives at the same fitness ratings by carrying out a 60 second test of the rate at which the heart rate slows down following any exercise programme.
Heart rate / pulse measurement can be carried out using the pulse grip sensors on the handlebar, or using the ear clip provided with the machine. Using ear clips is something that is nowadays only seen on Kettler machines. Whlst having questionable accuracy, they do enable pulse measurement to take place without compromising upper body exercise which the user would have to sacrifice to grab the pulse grip sensors. For the most accurate and convenient method, the optional chest strap should be used.
The positon of the foot pedals may be adjusted for user comfort and a set of leg levellers ensure that the cross trainer is stable on slightly uneven floors. Finally, castor wheels at the front ensure that this cross trainer can be moved around with relative ease!
The Kettler Rivo P is backed up by a full 3 year parts & labour warranty from Kettler.
